"I think the charity soccer games are a great way for the community to come together for a specific cause," Chris DiLemme, president of the Carlstadt League, told Daily Voice. "This is a way to help your fellow neighbor."
The Sixth Annual Coaches Charity Game was originally scheduled for Oct. 4 but moved to Sunday, Oct. 18 at Lindbergh Field in Carlstadt.
Each year coaches from both soccer leagues kick off against each other to raise money for charities. This year more than $2,000 was raised for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society.
In past years, the league has raised money for diabetes or for a family in Carlstadt who lost their mother and one year for an East Rutherford family who lost their father.
Carlstadt coaches defeated East Rutherford with a score of 4 to 2.
In the U14 Girls Game, Carlstadt defeated East Rutherford and East Rutherford won over Carlstadt in the U14 Boys Game -- also played on Sunday.
Along with the games, there were raffles, 50/50s, food and family fun.
